An inspirational book, '5k and 10k From Start to Finish' should be in the magazine rack of every woman (and man) in the country. A go to manual that covers all aspects of the common sport, '5k and 10k From Start to Finish' is a must-read!

At last.

After months of writing, endless meetings (accompanied by coffee and cake) with my editor and even more meetings with the Race for Life team, my new book 5K and 10K: From Start to Finish is out now and available to buy online, on the high street and on the Race For life store once you sign up for an event.

The idea of writing an easily accessible book on how new or beginner runners can train up for a 5k and 10k race, came to me following the popularity of my marathon book “The Marathon and Half Marathon: A Training Guide.” My approach in both books has simply been to pass on all my knowledge from my 14 years as a personal trainer in an uncomplicated and easy to understand way.

In essence, running is one of the most primeval of human movements but it seems that far too many running books on the shelves right now have tried to over complicate it and make it an activity which is best left to the more serious sportsperson.

This is far from the truth, which is why I teamed up with Bloomsbury and Race for life to produce a book which will help to inspire anyone of any age to take to the streets and get up and running.

5K and 10K : From Start to Finish Contains a wealth of vital information. From the basics like nutrition and clothing to staying motivated and what to do on race day, it offers friendly guidance to help novice runners prepare for their race and enjoy themselves in the process. It also provides flexible training plans to suit all levels of fitness and commitment and advice on avoiding injuries.

This is a book for every runner: those taking part in one of the hundreds of different charity events each year; people hoping to improve their health or reduce their waistline; and those who simply want to get round the course in one piece. Whatever you want from your running race, this book will set you on the road to success. Plus, with a percentage of the profits from every book sold going direct to Cancer Research UK, it's surely a book which should feature on your bookshelf!
